P/M Industries is a contract manufacturing company that supplies custom parts and services to
microelectronic circuit manufacturers.
We use high tech equipment to precisely cut, score, drill and surface thin sheets of technical ceramic for companies which, in turn,
use these parts to make electronic circuits.
We serve several market sectors: telecommunications, automotive and medical. Our customer base spans the entire United
States and Canada. The bulk of our business currently comes from customers who make products that support personal
communication devices and networks.
The nature of our business is as follows: we buy
as-fired, ceramic substrates
from
ceramic substrate manufacturers. Our customer
places an order for a quantity of these substrates to be precisely surfaced, scored and drilled according to a drawing. We use
lapping equipment to precisely define the thickness of the substrates. We use
polishing equipment to put a fine surface finish
on the parts. We use
dicing saws to perfectly cut the edges of each substrate. We program a
laser cutting machine to scribe
and drill holes as needed. We then ship these finished parts to the customer. Our customer prints a circuit on the substrates
with either thick or thin film metalization. After print and fire, our customer may send the circuits back to us for
resistor trimming.
We measure how well the circuit is operating in relation to its design and then use a laser to make little cuts in the resistors
(or other components) to cause them to operate at their target value. Our customer then populates the circuits with chip
components and ICs and packages the circuits for final use.
